Paolo Calabrese (b. 1998, Bari, Italy) is a composer and performer whose work explores alternative tunings, timbral research, psychoacoustic properties, and the interaction between physical, social, and spatial perceptual phenomena. His music is rigorous yet patient, built upon the dynamic tension between suspension and harmonic resolution, leaving space for an essential action that seeks an estranging, ec/static effect.

His compositions include both acoustic instruments and electronic synthesis, guided by an economy of means and a refined attention to the internal structures of sound. Influenced by minimalist and extended-form traditions, as well as by the structural foundations and expressive depth of early music, his work is characterized by attention to repetition, permutation, auditory scene analysis, sustained tones, microtonal intervals, and a quantitative-reductionist perspective.

Currently completing his degree in New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari, Italy, Calabrese lives in Stockholm, Sweden.
